Amanda Tapping Bio

Amanda Tapping, a British-Canadian actress/director was born 28 August 1965. She is best known for her role as Samantha Carter in the Canadian-American military-themed science fiction television series Stargate SG-1, Stargate Atlantis and Stargate Universe. Tapping also appeared as Helen Magnus in the science fictional-fantasy TV series Sanctuary. When she was three years old, Tapping, who was born in Rochford (Essex), England, moved to Canada with her family. She attended North Toronto Collegiate Institute where she excelled in both Drama as well as Environmental Science. However, when she finished in 1984, she made the decision to devote her time to drama, and enrolled at the University of Windsor School of Dramatic Arts in Windsor, Ontario Tapping is married to Alan Kovacs and they together reside in Vancouver, British Columbia. [13][1413][14] Tapping is the mother of one child with Kovacs. Tapping has shared her 8 miscarriages and the struggles she went through during her marriage, in the hope that other mothers who have miscarried would feel less alone. Richard and Christopher are her brothers. Steven Third brother, who is her third was also alive, but passed away in December 2006 due to complications that were not disclosed to the Tapping family.
