Simone Biles Career, Childhood & Early Life

Simone Biles was a gymnastics prodigy since a young age. After her dominance in the junior elite division, she won her first U.S. and world all-around titles in 2013. In the year 2015, she claimed an unprecedented third straight world all-around championship. Biles went on to lead the U.S. Olympic women's gymnastics team, nicknamed "The Final Five," to victory at the 2016 Summer Games, while also claiming gold in the individual all-around, floor and vault, as well as getting a bronze medal in the balance beam. Biles won a new record in 2019 when she took home a sixth U.S. all around title. She also set a new record that fall by winning her 25th World Championship gold.

Simone is third of the four siblings; the others being Ashley, Tevin, and Adria. Adria Biles is also a gymnast. Simone was raised by her grandfather, Ron Biles (Shanon’s father) and his wife Nellie Cayetano Biles. Ron is an ex-air traffic controller. Nellie is a nurse and co-owner of a group of nursing homes across the USA, is also an owner in the past.

In the 2013 National Championships, she won the title of all-round champion ahead of Kyla Ross, who was the previous medalist. She was awarded silver in each of the four events. She was awarded a place on the Senior National Team as well as the World Championship Team.
