Rosie Huntington-Whiteley began her acting career in 2009 with an untitled short film in which she was a character in which a woman's boyfriend is unable to remember Valentine's Day. She made her feature film debut in 2011 in one of the main characters in the sci-fi action film 'Transformers Dark of the moon'. The film, inspired by the characters of the well-known toy line "Transformers',' was the third installment of the 'Transformers film series. Produced by Michael Bay, the film was a hit with actors Shia LaBeouf, Josh Duhamel, John Turturro, Tyrese Gibson, Patrick Dempsey and Kevin Dunn alongside Rosie Huntington Whiteley. The film was made with an estimated budget of just 200 million dollars, the movie was a huge commercial success, earning over $1 billion worldwide. It currently ranks as the 17th highest-earning movie, and is also the fourth-highest-performing film at the time. The film was nominated in three categories to win the Oscars. Despite the film's success, Huntington-Whiteley's acting skills were met with criticism. She was also nominated for the Razzie Award for the Worst Supporting Actress. She next appeared in the action film 'Mad Max: Fury Road' which was co-written, directed, and co-produced by George Miller. The film was the fourth in the Mad Max franchise, following the films 'MadMax' (1979), 'Mad Max 2' (1981) and 'Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome' (1985). The film received critical acclaim. The story was based on the adventures of one of the police officers in a dystopian future Australia which is experiencing societal decline and a fuel shortages because of wars.
