Rosamund Pike
Born in
London, England in 1979, Rosamund Mary Elizabeth Pike was the sole child of
Caroline (Friend) who was mother of a classical violinist and Julian Pike, an
opera singer father. Her childhood was spent traveling around Europe because of
the work of her parents. Pike attended Bristol's Badminton School and started
acting at the National Youth Theatre. Pike was just 23 years old when she
appeared in "Romeo and Juliet" at the National Youth Theatre. She was
then recognized by an agent and was signed. Her first film was a huge-budget
action thriller. However, her subsequent film work was mostly in independent
films like Promised Land (2004) and The Libertine (2004). She was also awarded
the Best Supporting Actress award at The British Independent Film Awards. Pride
& Prejudice (2005) was a film that featured Pike as one of the Bennet
girls. Following a brief appearance in Hollywood, Doom (2005) and Fracture
(2006), she returned to film with impressive performances in three of the smaller
films. She also appeared in Johnny English Reborn (2011) and the sci-fi action
Wrath of the Titans (2012). Pike made a return to action movies as the lead
actress opposite Tom Cruise in Jack Reacher (2012).
