Rashida Jones
Rashida Jones was born Los Angeles,
California to Quincy Jones, a media mogul and producer, and Peggy Lipton,
Rashida is the younger sister of actress Peggy Lipton and Quincy Jones. Her
older sister is Kidada Jones, and five half-siblings by her father's other
relationships. Her father is African-American , and her mother is Ashkenazi
Jewish (a descendant of exiles from Russia and Latvia). Rashida was born into
Reform Judaism. She was raised in Bel Air Los Angeles, California. Jones said
that her mixed-race heritage was not recognized in the society of the 1970s.
Jones made her professional acting debut was on The Last Don (1997) which was a
mini-series inspired by Mario Puzo's novel. Rashida completed her studies at
Harvard University in 1997. She attended a class at the Buckley School, Sherman
Oaks, California. Voted the Most Likely to Be Successful. Arabic (O+ O'UO-O(c)
the name she chose) means "Major," adult, mature, wise or older.

Quincy Jones III, the brother of Quincy Jones III. Quincy Jones III was present
in the introduction and recited the lines from Shakur's poem "Starry
Night." The poem is the inspiration for the song's name. Rashida's father
is African-American, and also has smaller amounts of English, Scottish, and
Welsh and Scottish ancestry (some of his African ancestors were from the Tikar
people of Cameroon). Rashida is Ashkenazi Jewish, of Russian Jewish and Latvian
Jewish descent. Her maternal grandparents were from South Carolina and
Mississippi. Her maternal grandfather was born to New Yorkers, and her maternal
grandmother was from Eastern European Jewish heritage. She has been playing
three characters called "Karen" since 2009 on the cult TV comedy show
Freaks and Geeks (1999), Stella (2006), and The Office (2005).
