Pom Klementieff

Pom Klementieff (born 3 May 1986) is a French actress from France. She attended the Cours Florent drama school, Paris. She has appeared in films like Loup 2009, Sleepless Night 2011 and Hacker's Game 2015. She is the Mantis character in the Marvel Cinematic Universe film Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 (2017), Avengers: Infinity War (2018) and Avengers: Endgame (2019). Pom Klementieff was the child of an Korean mother, and an American-Russian father. Her father was a consul in Quebec City, Canada. Eugene Klementieff was her grandfather. Pom was her name since it is a symphony of the Korean words "spring" and "tiger" in Korean. Klementieff was a resident of Canada before her family moved around extensively due to her father's job. Before making the move to France, they resided in Japan and also on the Ivory Coast. Klementieff's father died of cancer when she was five and her mother was suffering from schizophrenia and was unable to care for children and so Klementieff was cared for by her aunt and uncle who were paternal. Her uncle, who she described as "like her father" passed away at the age of age 18. The older brother of Klementieff, who committed suicide seven years later, was her aunt. Klementieff briefly attended law school following the death of her uncle to please her aunt, but did not find the career option appealing. She also worked as an waitress in France and a salesperson. In the Cours Florent drama academy in Paris, she began acting at the age of 19. In the early stages of her training, she was awarded an acting competition which awarded the opportunity to take classes for free for two years at the school's most prestigious teachers. Her first acting gig professionally was the French independent film Apres lui (2007), playing the stepdaughter to the main character, which was played by Catherine Deneuve. The production of the film took three days. One scene had Klementieff pushing someone down the set steps, but she fell. Gael Morel saved that scene for the final film. Loup (2009) is the French film that focuses on the Siberian reindeer herders was her debut major part. Klementieff was filming at a camp hours away from the nearest village. There, temperatures dropped to zero.
