Patricia Velásquez
Creativity is more than just film,
pictures, or canvas. It is also a catalyst to philanthropy, charity, or
activism. Patricia Velasquez is an award-winning model and actress who has made
history. She is also a staunch patron of charity. Author activist, author, and
a loving mom. Regardless, she makes major strides by drawing on instinct and
consciously paving her own way. "I see my work as a long staircase,"
she said. "I have taken every step up. It was remarkable to do that, as
there's been a lot of longevity. I just laid my head down and took one step at
a time. Then it was done. This analogy is reminiscent of a formative
experience. Her birthplace was Venezuela, but she was raised in France or
Mexico. After only a few years she decided to relocate to Venezuela. Parents
who worked as teachers in South America, moved her family into a cramped,
cramped residence without running water or elevators. In order to supply water
for the entire unit, Patricia often carried heavy buckets on fifteen steps. She
tried to help her family in any way she could despite her studies in
engineering and intensive dance training. The pledge she made to her family was
the key to her rise to the top of the fashion industry, saw her being sought
out to model in Milan. She recalls that she was required to travel to Italy to
model for the fashion industry. "If I could afford to send thirty dollars
per month to Venezuela and it was worth it since that would be enough to cover
the cost of all the water in the structure." Patricia's achievements were
a major event in fashion because she brought attention to South America for
first time. Her "first model Karl Lagerfeld photographed" was an
amazing breakthrough. She continued to be featured in fashion shows and front
editorial spreads and to be featured in commercials for Chanel, Dolce &
Gabbana and Fendi. Her appearances in Oprah's Supermodel of the World contest
as well as Ford Models’ "Supermodel of the World" contest were a hit
around the world. Also that she graced the pages of Vogue, Bazaar, Marie Claire
as well as many other magazines.
